Ken was born October 9, 1926 in Jamaica, Queens, NY to Howard and Gladys Ousey. On Sept 9, 1950 he married the love of his life the former, Joan Paiva, in Yonkers, NY. After service in the US Navy during WWII, Ken returned home to join the family business, OZ Trucking and Rigging, joining his father and brother in continuing to successfully run the company that was founded in 1894 and continues today under a fourth generation.

Ken is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 67 years, Joan; four sons Kenneth, Timothy, Paul and Shane and their spouses and families; his brother Joseph Ousey and sister Pat Petzold; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins and other loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Muriel, a brother Howard, a son Brian and a grandson Keith.

Generous of spirt, quick witted and full of life, love and generosity Kenneth and Joan raised their family in Lake Success, NY where he served for over fourteen years as a trustee, Deputy Mayor and culminating as the Mayor. He also served as the President of the Nassau County Village Officials Association and the NY State Conference of Mayors and Municipal Officials and was recognized as the 1989 Distinguished Public Servant of the Year by the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith. In addition, he served as a member of the Saint Mary’s (Manhasset, NY) Parish Council and Interfaith Council, Village of Lake Success Police Emergency Squad, United States Coast Guard Auxiliary and is a Fourth Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus and many other additional civic and public service organizations.

Ken was a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather, enthusiastic golfer and dedicated public servant. He enjoyed the company of friends, a good laugh and a great book but was most proud and happy watching his sons and their families succeed in life. He was a deeply spiritual man who supported his faith and church in all that he did. He will be deeply missed by all those he knew and loved and by all who met him during his life’s journey.
